Morrisville State College Dairy Judging Team completes successful year

The 2012 Morrisville State College Dairy Judging Team completed another successful year, placing in several competitions.



Members of the judging team were: Adam Hill, of Corfu; Marshall Hinz, of Fillmore; Duncan Bailey, of Fillmore; (Paul) Mitchell Ruth, of Spring City, Pa., all animal science—dairy students; Katlin Smith, of South Plymouth, and Scott Smith, of South Plymouth, both agricultural business students. All are active participants in the college's Dairy Club. Below are team results:



All American Dairy Show Judging Competition in Harrisburg, Pa:

Team members: Marshall Hinz, Duncan Bailey, Scott Smith, Katlin Smith

Second-place Junior College Team

Marshall Hinz-first place individual overall.



North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky.:

Team members: Marshall Hinz, Duncan Bailey, Scott Smith, Adam Hill

Team placed first for four of the six breed classes, won Top Team Reasons, and came in one point behind Cobleskill for second place in Overall Team in the Junior College Judging Competition. Adam Hill came in first place for Individual Reasons and Duncan Bailey came in third. Overall High Individual was awarded to Adam Hill.



World Dairy Expo Judging Competition in Madison, Wis.:

Team members: Marshall Hinz, Duncan Bailey, Scott Smith, Adam Hill

Individual competitor for Morrisville State College was Mitchell Ruth. The team placed second with Duncan Bailey placing fourth in the Overall Top 10 Individuals. Mitchell Ruth placed second in Top 10 Individual Reasons.



The team's second-place finish earned them an invitation to the International Dairy Judging Tour in Scotland, England, and Ireland next summer.



“It is an honor to be invited to this event,” said Justine Deming, Morrisville State College coach and assistant professor in dairy science. The team is currently seeking sponsors and donations to help make the trip possible.
