When you make charitable gifts to SUNY Morrisville of stock, bonds, mutual funds, or other long term appreciated assets you receive a double tax benefit. You receive a charitable deduction for the current fair market value of the asset and you are not taxed on your capital gain in the asset. This means you receive a tax break for the appreciation on which you never paid taxes. By using appreciated assets, your gift costs you less.

As an employee, signing up for payroll deductions is another way to show your vote of confidence in your students, to support them in a simple but tangible way. Payroll gifts are especially important because small gifts add up through the year and across our campus. All of our colleagues come together to make a difference. $5/pay period becomes $130 in a year. Multiply this across the more than 100 employees enrolled and you can see how real change happens in tiny steps, kind of like the small daily actions we take each day to help students learn and grow.
