Lesley Owens-Pelton is the Director of the Accessibility Services Center (ASC). Diagnosed with multiple invisible disabilities, she went through college and law school using Disability Services on both coasts.
At University of California, San Diego, Lesley became involved with Critical Disability Theories and later chose Syracuse University because of the Center on Human Policy and the ground breaking work of Disability scholars there. Joining them, she earned a dual degree – a Juris Doctor in Law and an MSEd in Cultural Foundations of Education. Both degrees focused on the legal, social, and historical policies of the US for People with Disabilities.
For the past over 30 years, Lesley has advocated for the rights of PWDs. She speaks on National Panels, wrote and improved laws for youth with chronic health conditions in PA, and now proudly serves the students at SUNY Morrisville using a Social Justice Model perspective.
