Dear Campus Community,

The State University of New York (SUNY) has provided updated guidance regarding weekly COVID-19 testing procedures for SUNY campuses. Effective immediately, students and employees who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to participate in weekly surveillance testing during the summer. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated remain required to test weekly.

As defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

SUNY Morrisville students and employees can immediately begin providing documentation showing completion of a full vaccination series to be exempt from testing. Students should upload a copy of their vaccination card to Blackboard through the course labeled “Mustangs: Stamping Out COVID,” or provide a copy to the Student Health Center either via email to stellda@morrisville.edu or dropped off in person. Employees also can upload a copy of their vaccination card to Blackboard through the Mustangs Employees - Stamping Out COVID course (administered solely by the Office of Human Resources), or provide a copy via email to the Office of Human Resources at humanresources@morrisville.edu.

Students and employees will be automatically enrolled in the Blackboard course. To upload your document, sign in to Blackboard using your Morrisville login information through the links above and follow the on-screen instructions.

With this newly provided guidance, students and employees who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to present proof of vaccination by Friday, May 28, to be exempt from testing for this coming week, the week of May 24. Proof of vaccination also can be uploaded anytime you complete a full vaccination series throughout the summer.

For students and employees who are not fully vaccinated, weekly surveillance testing resumes next week (May 24) for students living on or commuting to campus during the summer, as well as employees who report to campus at least once every two weeks.

Residential students who are not fully vaccinated must report to the Student Health Center from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Monday, May 24, to have a rapid test administered. Students who are not fully vaccinated and participating in the summer class beginning at 10 a.m. Monday also must report to the Health Center for a rapid test prior to the start of class. We highly encourage those students to arrive for testing at 9 a.m. if possible.

All Norwich Campus students who are not fully vaccinated and registered for a summer class will participate in pooled saliva testing administered at their class on Monday, May 24.

All employees who are not fully vaccinated and report to campus at least once every two weeks must participate in testing through one of the following three options this coming week:

  1. Monday, May 24: Have a rapid test administered at the Student Health Center from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; OR
  2. Tuesday, May 25: Participate in pooled saliva testing in STUAC from 9 a.m.-noon; OR
  3. Arrange with your supervisor to test at another time on Monday or Tuesday. Those tests must be delivered either to STUAC before noon on Tuesday or placed in the drop box located on the first floor of Brooks Hall before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26.

MOC, MAC and other areas that conduct testing for their employees will continue to do so as normal and follow these same updated procedures.

Testing procedures for the remainder of the summer for those who are not fully vaccinated will be provided next week.

Regardless of vaccination status, students should continue to complete the daily self-screening checklist while on campus, while employees reporting to campus should continue to complete the daily COVID Screening app

Thank you for helping keep our campus safe.
