David E. Rogers, Ph.D., President


Dr. David E. Rogers serves as the eighth president of SUNY Morrisville. With a career spanning over two decades at the college, Dr. Rogers has emerged as a highly respected leader, committed to elevating Morrisville to new heights and strengthening its ties to the community.

Dr. Rogers' journey in education began with a strong academic foundation. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and his master's degree from Cornell University before pursuing a Ph.D. in labor economics, collective bargaining and econometrics from the SUNY College of Industrial Labor Relations at Cornell University. 

In 1999, Dr. Rogers embarked on a transformative path when he joined SUNY Morrisville. Over the years, he has become an integral part of the college's growth and development. His visionary leadership and dedication have earned him the admiration and trust of the campus community.

Under Dr. Rogers' leadership, SUNY Morrisville has achieved significant progress, positioning itself as a premier institution in the state. Notable achievements during his presidency include the introduction of the college's first master's degree program, a Master of Science in Food and Agribusiness. Additionally, SUNY Morrisville expanded its bachelor's programs to include offerings most recently in Agricultural Science, Sustainable Resources Management, Video Game Technology and Human Services Leadership. These programs reflect the college's commitment to providing diverse and relevant educational opportunities, aligning its curriculum with the evolving needs of today's job market.

Financial successes have also marked Dr. Rogers' tenure, with the college securing over $100 million in funding for campus improvements. These investments have resulted in the development of state-of-the-art facilities, including the Agriculture and Clean Energy Technology facility, a new workforce and economic development center and a renovated student recreation center. These enhancements not only elevate the campus's physical infrastructure but also enhance the overall educational experience for Morrisville students.

Dr. Rogers' dedication to sustainability and resource conservation has positioned Morrisville as a leader in the education sector. The college's efforts in these areas have been recognized by the Sustainable Upstate Network, underlining its commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible practices.

Furthermore, Dr. Rogers has been a staunch advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion within the campus community. He appointed the college's first-ever chief diversity officer, a pivotal step in promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, faculty and staff.

Outside the campus, Dr. Rogers actively participates in community organizations throughout Central New York. He serves on various boards, including the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council (CNYREDC), Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County (CCEMC), Community Memorial Hospital (CMH), Health WorkForce New York (HWNY), the Industrial Development Agency for Madison County (IDA), where he holds the position of Vice Chairman and he serves as the President of Partnerships for Campus-Community Engagement (PCCE).

Dr. David E. Rogers' presidency at SUNY Morrisville has been marked by transformation, innovation and community engagement. His leadership continues to inspire and shape the future of the college, strengthening its position as a hub of academic excellence and community collaboration.
