Jonathan W. Biggar, RN MSN – Ed

Office/Department

Hello Students and welcome to SUNY Morrisville School of Nursing.  I am an adjunct clinical instructor at SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital.  I have ambled in the nursing field since 1977, climbing up the nursing ladder rungs of NA, LPN, RN, BSN, MSN – Ed.  Currently working on reaching the last rung, a Ph.D. in nursing theory and clinical practice at Liberty University.   I have practiced the art holistic nursing in med/surg, emergency, psych and psych ER, addiction, industrial, correctional, private duty, and home care settings.  I have done formal classroom instruction but prefer bedside nursing training since precepting graduate nurses in med/surge at Upstate.  I enjoy assisting anxious students to discover their healing potential and thrive as strong confident RNs who will become life-long learners in the most trusted profession in the world.

As a lifelong learner myself, my interests are extremely varied.  An internet search history of my computer would reveal: Nursing, hard sciences of biology, archology, paleolithic anthropology, Western history, politics, conservative/liberal pod casts, and music, mainly 1960-1990’s rock with classical and soft jazz mixed in.  I prefer paper books to Kindle, and complete English sentences to emojis and texting slang.  I have in lived in Onondaga county since 1976, and the last 30 years in a small rural township in an old farmhouse my wife and I are slowly restoring.  I have four adult children and 10 grandchildren.

My personal and professional mottos are: Perfectio ipsa praemium est (perfection is its own reward) and Optimus meus in pessimo eorum tempore (my best at their worst) which I strive to live out daily.
