Hello everyone! I am Tyler R. Colbert, an assistant professor at SUNY Morrisville’s nursing division, and I joined the Morrisville nursing faculty in Fall ‘23. Prior to Morrisville, I have worked at multiple other SUNY institutions, including the University at Buffalo.

I have been a registered nurse since 2012 specializing in Medical/Surgical nursing and have worked in healthcare for 25 years. Throughout my career as a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner, I have gained experience in several different specialties and settings including medical-surgical nursing, operating room circulating, women’s health and fertility, and family medicine.

My journey started with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hartwick College. I then worked as an RN in pediatrics and step-down ICU, developing a strong foundation in patient-centered care.

Welcome to SUNY Morrisville! I am an Instructional Support Technician (IST) within the nursing lab department working on the Norwich campus. I have been a nurse for 33 years and most of my nursing career was in the US Air Force. I retired after 28 years of service and had a varied experience of medical surgical, obstetrical, administrative and aeromedical evacuation nursing.

My nursing experience spans over 30 years in the specialty areas of critical care, ambulatory surgery, travel nursing, and nursing education. My teaching passion is NCLEX style test development. I have been a registered nurse for over 20 years, and I have taught in some capacity for over 15 years.
