The ending couldn’t have played out any more perfectly than it did Saturday night, when Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey took SUNY Potsdam into overtime and dramatically posted a 5-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory. But what meant more than just the win on the ice, was the game that was being played to raise awareness for autism, organized by Mustang captain Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ontario).

The night couldn’t have been captured any better than Morrisville State captain, Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ontario) posting the game winner with a mere 1.2 seconds remaining in the sudden victory period to lift host Morrisville State College over visiting SUNY Potsdam by a 5-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) final on a night that was meant to serve as something more, an awareness and fundraising campaign for Autism, organized by Nelson. The victory lifts the Mustangs to 2-15-2 overall, 2-8 in conference play. Potsdam drops to 6-10-1, 3-6 in the SUNYAC.

Visiting Penn State Berks used an opening 19-0 run in the second half en route to a 74-57 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host Morrisville State College Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs drop to 1-15 overall, 1-7 in conference action, while the Nittany Lions post a 5-10 overall mark, 4-5 in NEAC play.

Morrisville State College men’s basketball ran away with their eight eighth straight victory, handing visiting Penn State Berks an 89-71 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) defeat Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 11-4 overall, 5-1 in conference action, while the Nittany Lions dropped to 7-9 overall, registering their second conference loss of the season at 6-2.

Visiting ninth ranked SUNY Plattsburgh scored twice in the third period to claim the 4-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over host Morrisville State College hockey Friday night in Morrisville. The Mustangs fall to 1-15-2 overall, 1-8 in the SUNYAC, while the Cardinals post a 12-5-1 overall record (7-1-1 in conference play).

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named junior guard Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) the Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 13.

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team dropped a 75-to-61 to visiting Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Wednesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium. The Fighting Tigers overall record to 3-11 on the year including a 4-1 mark in conference action while the Mustangs to overall 9-4 with a 4-1 record versus league opponents.

The SUNY Cobleskill women’s basketball team overcame a cold first half offensively to slug out a 48-36 win over visiting Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Wednesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium. The win moves the Fighting Tigers overall record to 4-9 on the year including a 3-4 mark in conference action while the Mustangs fall to 1-13 overall with a 1-6 record versus league opponents.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week selections, naming Morrisville State junior forward Rhamel Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) the men’s basketball athlete of the week for the week ending January 13.

Host Morrisville State College women’s basketball earned their first win of the season Sunday afternoon, topping visiting Wilson College 45-33 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 1-12 overall, 1-5 in conference action, while Wilson drops to 2-8, 0-7 in the NEAC.
