Scott, Lucio named Mustang Athletes of the Week

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named women's basketball guard Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) and men's basketball guard Andrew Lucio (Solvay, N.Y.) it's Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 12.



Scott played a key role in a 3-0 record on the week for the women's team, averaging 14 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 4.0 steals per game for the Mustangs, while shooting 57 percent from the floor on 17-of-30 shots made.



In the conference win over Cazenovia, Scott tallied 20 points, grabbed nine boards and had 7 steals, all but four points recorded in the second half of play.



The sophomore is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High and is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Alisa McCluney and Kevin Scott of Bronx.



Lucio was instrumental in the men's conference victory over Route 20 rival Cazenovia on Saturday, chasing down an offensive rebound and immediately launching the put back on the baseline with five seconds remaining on the clock to give Morrisville State the 67-65 victory to remain atop the NEAC.



In the contest, he was the second Mustang player to reach double figures (11), adding six rebounds and four assists, while hitting three from beyond the arc.



The junior is a graduate of Solvay High and is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. He is the son of Jackie and Rich Lucio of Solvay.
