Skills USA competition is February 11 in SUNY Morrisville’s one-of-a-kind facilities

MORRISVILLE, NY¬—Nearly 400 students from various high schools and BOCES facilities will showcase their talents and brush up on their skills during the SkillsUSA Area II Regional Conference at SUNY Morrisville Friday, Feb. 11. Contests begin at 9 a.m. The alternate date for inclement weather is Friday, March 4.

The annual event features students from technical schools and BOCES programs throughout Central New York competing in more than 40 events within job fields including computers & communications, construction, culinary, health, leadership, mechanics, and security and law.

Competitions, judged by SUNY Morrisville faculty, students, and industry and education representatives, expose participants to the college’s one-of-a-kind facilities.

The day culminates with an awards ceremony, recognizing the top three finishers from each contest. Scholarship opportunities are available to SkillsUSA regional participants who choose to attend SUNY Morrisville. 

The event includes a non-perishable food and personal hygiene item drive to support Feed Our Vets. Items can be dropped off at a donation truck, from 9-10:30 a.m., next to the Hospitality Suite in parking lot A near Drake Field.
