Join us in celebrating National Coming Out Day!

For three decades, the LGBTQ community and its allies have celebrated National Coming Out Day — a positive celebration of queerness that encourages folks to share their truth with the world. Join us at STUAC as we celebrate with a tabling session, information materials and a structured phone booth and door built by our Theater Department and decorated by our students as a symbol of pride for people coming out.

Anyone who participates in the event and follows our new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Instagram account (@sunymorrisvilledeititleix) also will receive an Action Hero T-Shirt that promotes creating a safe environment and displays their support as an ally.

This event is part of LGBT History Month, an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. It was founded in 1994 by Missouri native Rodney Wilson. LGBT History Month is celebrated in the countries of Hungary, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Greenland, city of Berlin, and the United States. The United States, Canada, and Australia celebrate during the month of October, Hungary and the United Kingdom celebrate in February and Berlin celebrates in May.
