Morrisville State College women's basketball outscored Bard 40-15 in the second half enroute to a 60-35 victory Saturday afternoon at the Kevin Fee/Roo Classic Basketball Tournament held at SUNY Canton.
Morrisville State improves to 1-2 overall with the victory.
Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) led Morrisville State with 18 points and seven rebounds, netting 11 points in the second half, while Nijee Scott (Bronx, NY) and Dyshea Smiley (Harlem, NY) each added 11 total. Scott also had four assists and Smiley five steals.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2011 Field Hockey All-Conference Teams, naming Morrisville State College's Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) and Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) to its first and second teams.
Quackenbush led Morrisville State in scoring, recording 11 goals and an assist on the season for 23 points in 18 games played. One of her goals was a game winner in the overtime thriller against Elmira.
Morrisville State College's athletic director, Greg Carroll, along with head men's basketball coach, Joseph Smith, announced the addition of Justin Stern as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff for the 2011-12 season.
Stern comes to Morrisville State from his alma mater, Jamesville-Dewitt High School, where he served as an assistant coach for the past two seasons, during which the Red Rams claimed their fourth straight New York State Championship Title.

Serrano comes to Morrisville State from Heidelberg University where she was a four-year member of the women's basketball program at guard.
Earning a bachelor of science degree in sports management and business administration in May 2011, Serrano earned scholar athlete honors while involved with the athletics program.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team hosted two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitationals over the weekend, placing third in Saturday's show and earning reserve team honors on Sunday.
Catherine O'Donnell (Huntington, NY) and Brianna Drake (Merrick, NY) qualified for the regional championship show at the end of the season in the novice fences and advanced walk trot canter classes, respectively.
