The State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher recently announced the winners of the 2010-11 Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award, honoring 75 students from across the SUNY System, including Morrisville State College's Jonathan Fried (Jordan, NY) in the sport of men's lacrosse.

The award was created to recognize academic excellence along with outstanding athletic achievement.

In the classroom, Fried has appeared on the Dean's List six semesters out of seven at Morrisville State, sporting over a 3.4 GPA, and has earned All-Academic Team honors through the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) in the spring 2009 semester.

On the field, Fried has appeared in 60 games for the Mustangs on defense, tallying one goal and assisting three others, while causing 75 turnovers and picking up 137 ground balls.

He is a two-time first team North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) all-conference selection at defense.

The graduate of Jordan Elbridge High School received his associate's degree in automotive technology in the spring of 2009. Fried is majoring in nursing at Morrisville State and is the son of Dori and Paul Fried of Jordan, N.Y.
