Low levels of COVID-19 detected in Cayuga Hall wastewater

Our wastewater testing samples of Cayuga Hall from Tuesday, Sept. 15, detected a low level presence of COVID-19.

Pooled saliva testing conducted that same day for residents of Cayuga Hall came back negative.

Approximately 35 residents did not participate in Tuesday’s pooled test. Those residents will participate in a pooled saliva testing today at 10 a.m. in their hall. We will also test any staff who have been in the building since Friday, Sept. 11.

Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking all residents of Cayuga Hall to remain in (or return to) their rooms today until we get results (expected Friday, Sept. 18). Students can have meals delivered to them by Dining Services, using an online order form (detailed instructions below).

Any students who have been in Cayuga Hall since Friday, Sept. 11, are asked to participate in pooled saliva testing. There will be no conduct consequences for those who violated visitation restrictions

Additional wastewater testing is already underway, and more pooled testing is being scheduled as well. We will send more details later today.

Remember, properly worn masks (mouth and nose) and physical distancing are the most effective means of limiting both transmission and infection. Even if you feel well or do not experience symptoms, you might be a carrier. Please participate in testing and take precautions to limit potential spread of the virus.

If you have health-related questions, please contact the Student Health Center
