Petry leads Morrisville State wrestling to sixth place finish at RIT Invitational

Morrisville State College sophomore, Henry Petry (Waverly, NY) posted a third place finish in the heavyweight class to lead the Mustangs to a sixth place team finish at the RIT Invitational Saturday in Rochester.

Cortland State won the invitational with 148.5 points, followed by Wesleyan with 103, Oswego 94.5, Baldwin Wallace 94, John Carroll 84, Morrisville State 52.5, Case Western 44.5, Kings 27, and RIT with 17.



Petry posted a 6-1 overall record on the day, including a major decision in the opening round, en route to the third place finish.



Four additional Mustangs earned top six finishes, including Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne, NY) who went 4-2 at 184 pounds and posted a technical fall over Case Westerns Dylan Novisky in the wrestlebacks to earn fifth place.



Nate Cross (Hudson Falls, NY) went 3-2 at 165 pounds for a fifth place finish, recording a major decision and pin before the 3-2 decision for fifth place.



Freshmen Josh Lear (Dexter, NY) and Dante Epps (Uniondale, NY) posted a sixth place finish for the Mustangs at 149 and 141 pounds respectively, each going 3-3 on the day. Lear recorded a pin and a major decision en route to his place finish.
