Townsley takes second in the Heron Invitational

Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) came in second, with a time of 28:28, to lead the Morrisville State College men's cross country team at the Heron Invitational held at William Smith College Saturday morning.



Only 24 seconds behind Townsley, Ben Sargrad (Manlius, NY) claimed third place, posting a time of 28:52. Tim Austen (Clifton Park, NY) crossed the finish line with a time of 29:38 for sixth place to round out the top 10 finishers for the men.



Carl Tausend (Cato, NY) came in 20th place with a time of 32:59. Peyton Williams (Bronx, NY) came in 34:50 for 26th place. Bazil McKenzie (Brooklyn, NY) followed in 27th place, with the time 34:50 and Shewangeremew Abebe closed for the Mustangs in 30th place with a time of 41:23.



Regina Laws (Uniondale, NY) led the women's team, finishing tenth with a time of 22:40. Coming in 14th place, Kelcie Degenfelder (Collins, NY) had a time of 23:19.



Elizabeth Peck (Antwerp, NY) came in 16th place with a time of 23:44. Rounding out the running for the Mustangs was Brittany Ellis (Camillus, NY), who came in 22nd place with a time of 24:32.



Morrisville State returns to the courses on Saturday, traveling to Penn State Berks for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships.
