The work of renowned sports sculptor and painter, Jim Ridlon, former NFL star and Syracuse football standout, coach and announcer, is on exhibit at Morrisville State.
The display of nine abstract collage paintings will be available for public viewing until Sept. 3 in the Donald Butcher Library Gallery. Summer viewing hours for the gallery are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Devon Schott has his career mapped out ahead of him. The 19-year-old Morrisville State student wants to land his dream job as a chef and eventually open his own restaurant.
His goals came into focus when a new associate degree in culinary arts management was launched by the college this semester.

The Morrisville State campus will be a flurry of activity as it welcomes a new class of freshmen, transfer and returning students during Welcome Weekend Aug. 22-25. Classes begin Aug. 26 at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses.
Student athletes will be assisting with helping new students move items into their residence hall rooms. Freshmen move-in is scheduled for Aug. 22.

The USA Football Network, Inc. announced its 25th annual pre-season All-American teams Thursday, naming Morrisville State College’s senior defensive lineman David Williams (Central Islip, N.Y.) and senior offensive lineman Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) to its teams.

Morrisville State's dairy judging team recently participated in Scotland's prestigious Royal Highland Show.
The five-student team earned a spot in the show, Scotland's top agricultural event, after placing second at the World Dairy Expo.

Lisa Iannello, of New Berlin, has joined Morrisville State as the grant coordinator.
In her new role, Iannello will be responsible for researching and securing grant opportunities from local, state, federal, and philanthropic agencies and corporations, in addition to monitoring grants and coordinating grant reports.

A local teacher is among those who received a 2013 Friend of Children Award from the Child Care Council of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County.
Mary St. Pierre, of Erieville, a preschool teacher at The Children's Center at Morrisville State, received the award recently during a Child Care Council of Cornell Cooperative Extension recognition dinner.

The Children's Center at Morrisville State will hold its fifth annual ChildRUN 5k race on Saturday, July 13. The event will also include a one-mile Fun Run/Walk.
Registration for the race begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at Bailey Hall, located on Route 20 in Morrisville.

Dave Tucci has had his share of the limelight through his hot rod business, having been featured on national television shows like TNN's Trucks, ESPN, Street Rodder and the popular Monster Garage.
This week, Tucci, the owner of Tucci Hot Rods in Marcy, a leader in the industry for its creative, innovative and customized designs, was at the Morrisville State campus teaching automotive instructors the tricks of his trade.

Morrisville State will host more than 1,100 high school junior boys and staff at this year’s Boys State government camp, sponsored by the American Legion, June 23-28.
Classified as a Leadership Action Program, Boys State accepts young men with outstanding qualifications in leadership, character, service and citizenship who reflect on the image of the youth of America.

Deng Kiir was 10 years old when he fled the violence of his country. He walked two months from Sudan to Ethiopia in hopes of a better life.
Today, Kiir, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan who were forced to flee their homes and families, shared one of the greatest journeys in his life—graduating from college.

Gilroy Alvarez's dorm room is decorated with some of his most-prized possessions. There's a championship soccer medallion hanging in a window, a poster of Jesus Christ, a Morrisville sweatshirt, award and leadership certificates, a soccer ball, and a majestic sky blue and white-trimmed flag representing his Guatemalan heritage.
Soon he will add college diploma to his treasures.

Morrisville State College faculty member Lisa Rusch, of Hamilton, has received the Morrisville State College Distinguished Faculty Award.
The award is presented annually to a faculty member who displays professional growth, personal and professional achievement, and has provided outstanding service to the college. She will be recognized during the college's 102nd commencement ceremony on May 18 at 1 p.m. in the recreation center.

Two teams of entrepreneurs from Morrisville State College won top spots in the Mohawk Valley Qualifier of the New York State Business Plan Competition held recently at SUNYIT.
The wins advanced the teams, AutoPrice Negotiators LLC, and Miracles on Lice, to the 2013 New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC), which will be held at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany on April 26.

A team of Morrisville State College students brought home a fourth-place finish from the 12th Annual North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) held in Fort Wayne, Ind. April 4-6.
Three Morrisville State College students also participated in the Dairy Academy, which was held in conjunction with the dairy challenge competition.

Looking for a fun activity to do with the whole family? The public is invited to participate in “Don't be a Spectator. Be a Sport,” a family fun night on May 2, from 6-8 p.m. in the recreation center at Morrisville State College in honor of Screen-Free Week.
Screen-Free Week is an annual event in which parents, children, teachers, and others across the nation turn off screen media (TV, video games, computers, cell phones) and celebrate the magic of being unplugged.

Dr. Clyde Cranwell, of Morrisville, NY, assistant professor and director of Morrisville State College's thoroughbred racing program, received an agriculture educator award from Alltech during a symposium held in Syracuse, one of 23 stops in the Alltech North American Lecture Tour.

Students at Morrisville State College are rolling up their sleeves to help out on campus and in the community during a month of service which is already in progress.
During the “April Month of Service,” students are performing tasks and services needed by residents in neighboring areas. Events will also roll over into May.

Morrisville State College will host Ag Day on April 18.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Most events will be held in the academic quad (in front of Marshall Hall).
Participants can learn more about agriculture, see horses, dairy cows, sheep and goats, take a hay ride around campus, and sample Morrisville State College's homemade ice cream during the annual event. There will also be face painting.

State Sen. David J. Valesky will address Morrisville State College students during the college's 102nd commencement ceremony May 18 at 1 p.m. in the recreation center.
Valesky, who represents the 53rd Senate District, comprised of Madison County and parts of Oneida and Onondaga counties, was elected to the New York State Senate in November 2004.
