Initial pooled saliva testing results from samples taken Monday and Tuesday, Oct.5 and 6, have been received today. Two of the pools – one of students, one of employees – came back positive.

Both pools have been submitted for follow-up testing of the individual samples within the pools (reflex testing). As a reminder, each pool can contain up to 12 individual samples.

As a precaution, employees within the positive pool have been advised to remain off campus until reflex test results are received, identifying the individual(s) who might be positive and require isolation.

Athletic workouts and practices have been suspended today and Friday.

When individual positive results are received, individuals will be notified and contact tracing will proceed.

Contact tracing, led by the Madison County Department of Health, will determine who has been a close contact of any infected individuals. See the information we shared Oct. 7 for more detail about contact tracing.

Notification of test results should only come from Human Resources, the Student Health Center or county health officials. Privacy laws still apply, and these professionals are equipped to proceed properly.

Daily updates on the college’s COVID-19 testing, quarantine, isolation and other data are available through the SUNY COVID-19 Tracker dashboard webpage. The college posts its latest wastewater data on its own webpage.
