MORRISVILLE, NY–Six Morrisville State College faculty/staff members were recently honored with Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence by the State University of New York and SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.
Recipients will be recognized during the college’s 106th commencement ceremony, which will be held May 6 at 1 p.m. in the recreation center.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Dr. Clare Armstrong-Seward of Smyrna has been named Morrisville State College’s Distinguished Faculty Award recipient.
The award is presented annually to a faculty member who displays professional growth, personal and professional achievement and has provided outstanding service to the college. She will be recognized during the college’s 106th commencement ceremony on May 6 at 1 p.m. in the recreation center.

MORRISVILLE, NY—It was Morrisville State College student Austin Graham’s first time showing a lamb, but “Miss Izzy” made it look easy for her.
“It’s pretty physical work showing a lamb, but working with her was the brightest part of my day,” said the 19-year-old agricultural business student from Laughton, Penn.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will host its fourth annual Milk Run on Friday, April 21, to benefit the experiential learning activities of the agricultural business and dairy science programs.
The family-friendly event is a five-kilometer (5K) run, walk or crawl open to all skill levels. The race begins at 6 p.m. in front of Marshall Hall, with race-day registration and packet pick-up open from 4:30-5:45 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College is hosting a free workshop for those interested in learning about nutrient management in pastures.
The workshop, scheduled April 12 from 3-5 p.m. in Bicknell Hall, will address questions about managing soil fertility in the pasture and interpreting soil test reports as they relate to forage production. It will also cover soil phosphorus management and ideas for the next grazing season.

The two-day intensive training is a mock active-shooter exercise, an essential part of the college’s emergency preparedness efforts.

MORRISVILLE, NY— It was a chance for nine Morrisville State College students to check out the actual operations of a major hotel corporation.
John Felton took his Hotel Operations class away from their books to hold class at the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton in Cazenovia for part of the semester.
The trip was an educational capstone for his students who are aiming at careers in the hospitality industry.

New are a spice mix and a lemon-pepper marinade. Students created the products from scratch in MSC Professor Sheila Marshman’s Marketing and Distribution of Agricultural Products class.

The colorful plants, a popular decoration throughout the holidays, are on sale now through Friday, Dec. 9, at the Spader Horticulture Complex on the Morrisville State College campus, Monday through Friday, from noon to 4 p.m. The sale is open to the public.
