Morrisville State College will hold its first ever western horse sale on April 13 at the Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road. A preview/demonstration of sale horses begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the sale at 1 p.m.
So far, approximately 20 reining, pleasure and hunter prospects are up for auction, including top consignments from the college's own western breaking and training program.

Four students from the accredited dietetic technician program at Morrisville State College recently reached outside of their classroom to help veterans at Clear Path for Veterans in Chittenango.
The students volunteered their time and expertise, providing helpful nutritional information to 11 soldiers from Fort Drum experiencing low-level TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) who will be entering into civilian life within the next year.

Morrisville State College will be hosting more than 30 employers at the 2013 Job and Internship Expo for students and alumni on March 28, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., in Madison Hall.
During the expo, employers representing a broad range of industries will be available to answer questions about their companies, hiring practices, and current and potential part- and full-time positions, internships and volunteer opportunities. The event is free.

Morrisville State College will be exhibiting the work of painter Lynette K. Stephenson in the Butcher Library Gallery. The exhibition titled, The Red Cross Series, will be available for public viewing until April 7.
Inspired by uncontrollable tragedies that are aspects of the uncertainty of life, Stephenson's paintings, most of which originated from her imagination, are mixed with photographs and old first aid manuals.

There wasn’t much doubt in Paige Jerrett’s mind what she wanted to do when she grew up. The shiny western belt buckle, cowboy hats and hours she and her father spent watching rodeos painted the picture.
“I remember sitting on the couch while my father French-braided my hair and we would spend the afternoon watching rodeos,” Jerrett said.

The Morrisville State College Theatre Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present the musical, Grease, in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on the Morrisville State College campus.
Show times are: March 15-17, and 21-23 at 8 p.m. A matinee performance will be held March 17 at 2 p.m.

Morrisville State College is offering two new bachelor’s degrees in videojournalism and applied psychology.
The new Bachelor of Science degrees augment the college’s lineup of four-year offerings which also include Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees.
The videojournalism degree prepares students for careers in contemporary media with a mix of hands-on classroom and field experience.

The Morrisville Auxiliary Corporation (MAC) of Morrisville State College is hosting a day of events Jan. 26 in celebration of national skating month—January 2013.
The events, which are free and open to the public, take place from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the college's IcePlex and include hockey games, speed skating races, skating relays, synchronized, ice dance and singles figure skating exhibitions, and more.

More than 900 high school students from 16 schools will have the opportunity to showcase a multitude of skills and talents in the Region II BOCES Skills USA competition being hosted Feb. 8 at Morrisville State College.
Formerly SkillsUSA-VICA, the annual conference features high school students from technical schools and BOCES programs throughout Central New York competing in a variety of events.

The Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) at Morrisville State College is offering a one-day workshop on anaerobic digestion (AD), Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the RETC bioenergy lab in Galbreath Hall, room 148.
This beginner-level course covers the status of AD in New York state, basic AD system components, AD biological and chemical processes, preventative and corrective maintenance of the engine-generator set and system, and future opportunities in the field.

A group of Morrisville State College students traveled to Waterville, Maine to help local dairy farmers and learn more about the industry.
The 21 students were part of the Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge, an innovative three-day event which promotes the future of the dairy industry. They joined more than 100 other students from nine northeast colleges and two Canadian universities.

Yet high atop concrete buildings, above the noise and congestion of the streets of New York City, farmers are making it happen—a viable way to grow food called rooftop farming.

With his face inching closer to the shiny trout he held delicately in his hands, Daniel Leigh's eyes focused with intense concentration.
He gently rubbed the trout's belly and grinned in amazement as tiny, yellow-colored eggs dropped out.
“Here come the eggs, look—here they come,” Jace Reel pointed excitedly as he watched nearby.
“This is pretty cool, but the fish was so slimy” said Leigh, who has never touched a fish before.
