Morrisville State College will be hosting more than 1,100 high school junior boys and staff at this year's Boys State government camp, sponsored by the American Legion, June 26 to July 1.
Classified as a Leadership Action Program, Boys State accepts young men with outstanding qualifications in leadership, character, service and citizenship, who reflect on the image of the youth of America.

The School of Science and Technology at Morrisville State College awarded the following scholarships to students, graduates.
The School of Science and Technology Award, based on academic excellence and campus involvement, was presented to Tiffany Sullivan, of Sidney, Olivia Kasprzyk, of Oriskany, Christopher Wisdom, of Brooklyn, and Nicole Geier, of Mayfield.

Put on your running shoes and join the Children's Center at Morrisville State College for its third annual 5k race for ChildRUN Saturday, July 16. The event will also include a 1 mile fun run for children and their family and friends.

Morrisville State College is partnering with local agencies to present a career and job expo at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Route 12 in Norwich, June 8.
During the expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., job seekers can meet with local employers about part-time and full-time positions, summer jobs and internships.

The Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) at Morrisville State College is hosting a workshop to help home, farm and business owners decide which renewable energy system is right for them.
The workshop, Wind or Solar – Which Renewable Energy System is Right for Me? will be held June 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in room 104 B of the RETC in Shannon Hall.

Medallions hanging from graduates' regalia told the story behind the added pomp and circumstance that was visible throughout Morrisville State College's commencement ceremony today.
The keepsakes, embellished with the number 100, were among elements throughout the decorated ceremony that signified graduates were celebrating more than their accomplishments—they were also making history as the 100th graduating class.

Morrisville State College and the New York Society of American Foresters, Iroquois Chapter are hosting a “woodswalk” in celebration of the International Year of Forests.
The walk will be held May 21 at 10 a.m. at the college's Galbreath Farm in Morrisville. It will be led by Brendan Kelly, a Society of American Foresters certified forester, and assistant professor of environmental science at Morrisville State College.

Receiving the Rays of Light Servant Leadership Award was Marguerite Whaley, of Smyrna, N.Y., a human services major at Morrisville State College's Norwich campus.
Thomas Longland, of Dunnville, Ontario, a sports, nutrition and fitness management major at Morrisville State College, received the college's Rays of Light Award.

Morrisville State College faculty member Brian McDowell, of Hamilton, N.Y., has received the Morrisville State College Distinguished Faculty Award.
The award is presented to faculty members who display professional growth, personal and professional achievement, and have provided outstanding service to the college.
He will be recognized during the college's 100th commencement on May 14 at 1 p.m. in the new athletic stadium.

Morrisville State College student Hai Nguyen took top score in the spring semester New York State Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges (NYSMATYC) Math League Competition.
Competing against 117 participants from 23 different schools, Nguyen, an architectural studies and design student from Vietnam, tallied a score of 55 to take the win for the semester.

Morrisville State College liberal arts students were recently honored for their achievements during the 10th annual Liberal Arts Tea. The event is part of the college's annual celebration of academic excellence.
The Liberal Arts Theater Participant-of-the-Year Award, given to a student who excels in theater productions on campus or assisting with productions, was presented to Corey Tighe, of Patchogue, N.Y., a wood products technology major.

Morrisville State College will host a public meeting on the Facilities Master Plan on April 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) Theatre. In February, consultants working on the plan met with members of the Morrisville State College community to gather public input and ideas regarding the role of the college in the community. This meeting will give consultants the opportunity to share the results of several months work on the plan.

Involving several of MSC's programs in a new endeavor, the Morrisville Wheel Hoe, "Mo Hoe" as it's known on campus, became available for purchase at Spader Hall on the Morrisville State College campus, and on Ebay.com.

The relationships between society, technology and music will be the focus of Morrisville State College's fifth annual Science Technology and Society Symposium, “Technomusia: Science, Technology and Music,” taking place all day Thursday, April 21 in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). It is free and open to the public.

Morrisville State College will host Ag Day on April 14.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Most events will be held in the academic quad (in front of Marshall Hall).
Participants can learn more about agriculture, pet a calf, guess the weight of a horse, walk through a hay maze, take a hay ride around campus, and sample Morrisville State College's homemade ice cream during the annual event.

No public roads will be affected but the public is advised to proceed with care on Rt. 20, South St. and Eaton Rd. The drill will conclude no later than 1 p.m.

Morrisville State College will conduct a large-scale emergency drill on campus in conjunction with the New York State Police (NYSP), New York State University Police, New York State Office of Homeland Security, Madison County Sheriff's Department, and local emergency responders on Wednesday, March 16. This undertaking will allow all organizations to test their emergency preparedness in an economical and effective manner.
