His interest in business and economics began at an early age. By the time he was 18, Christopher Scalzo was hatching ideas, examining investment strategies and conjuring up plans to run his own company.
His first big business plan was a home run—financing for a tool and die company. Others followed. As news of his business and entrepreneurial savvy spread, friends and colleagues turned to him for advice about finances and marketing.

Prospective students and parents can take a virtual walking tour of the campus that includes a 360-degree view and virtual reality component. Users can explore various campus stops along the tour through videos and pictures.

MORRISVILLE, NY— An exhibit showcasing art created by veterans and their supporters is on display now through Jan. 10 in the Donald Butcher Library Gallery at Morrisville State College.
The display, “Serving,” highlights the work of artists from Central New York, including veterans who served in various wars.
An opening reception will be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the library gallery.

MORRISVILLE, NY—An audience of community members and faculty, staff and students from Morrisville State College gathered on a bridge over Callahan Brook to celebrate a project that’s been years in the making.
Spectators were there to laud the completion and official opening of a bridge on the Callahan Brook Nature Trail, which runs through Morrisville.

Ashley Willits, a 2016 agricultural business graduate, was elected Eastern Region vice president for the National FFA Organization by delegates at the 89th annual National FFA Convention and Expo held recently in Indianapolis, Ind.

Each year, the college celebrates community service on or around Oct. 26, Founders’ Day, which coincides with the first day of classes at Morrisville in 1910. Activities this year will be held on Oct. 25.

MORRISVILLE, NY—There was something special about the 1987 Pontiac Grand Prix Matt Heckerman was eyeing at the dealership where he once worked. Despite its doors touched up with Wite-Out and in need of some TLC, it piqued his interest enough to buy it.
Years later, with an improved look and faster engine, the car is turning heads. Recently, Heckerman’s car was featured in the October issue of Car Craft, a national automotive performance magazine.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College’s annual Autumn Review Sale grossed $206,025 with 106 live lots, 43 milking lots, five embryo lots and one semen lot. The average per live lot was $1,897. The high lot went for $6,100.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Assemblymember Donna A. Lupardo visited the Morrisville State College campus where she hosted a forum on the enormous economic potential of industrial hemp for New York State.
“The crop can become a full-scale industry with agricultural, processing and economic potential in our own backyard,” said Lupardo, who sponsored legislation to allow hemp to be grown in the state.

Morrisville State College held its annual yearling sale Sept. 17 at the college’s Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road.
Once again, the highly anticipated event drew a crowd of potential buyers, sellers, trainers and owners from across the Northeast. MSC’s sale is the only one of its kind in New York State held on a college campus.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will have a strong presence again this year at the New York State Fair, featuring a car, horses, chair massages, renewable energy—even ice cream. The fair runs Aug. 25-Sept. 5.
Fairgoers can learn about horses and horsepower inside the MSC building, located near Gate 4 by the Coca-Cola Coliseum and the Iroquois Indian Village. Horses from various equine programs will be housed in the building throughout the duration of the fair.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Robert Blanchet, of Cazenovia, is Morrisville State College’s new dean of admissions.
Blanchet is responsible for all aspects of the college’s enrollment program including recruitment, admissions, financial aid and matriculation activities. Some of his initial objectives are to develop and implement recruitment and marketing strategies to meet enrollment targets, and to provide effective data analysis to support marketing and enrollment decisions.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Barry Spriggs, of DeRuyter, has been named provost of Morrisville State College.
In his new position, Spriggs will take on all aspects of Morrisville’s academic and budgetary affairs, and set academic priorities. He will also supervise athletics and student services.
Spriggs has more than 29 years of experience in higher education and has worked at five universities.
