SUNY Morrisville Conservation Tri-Society (CTS) club members were recently busy doing service activities at Camp Kingsley for the Leatherstocking Council’s scouting programs.

The students evaluated an area for invasive plant removal, refloated a dock that had been pinned by a beaver-felled tree, laid out a new trail and conducted trail maintenance.

Their advisor onsite was Professor Brendan Kelly ’93, an Eagle Scout who was a camp counselor in his youth at Camp Kingsley.

The trail the students laid out will enable scouts to travel through an area where there was once a wildfire.

Years earlier Kelly, in his role as a NYS DEC forester, helped fight the fire and later as a volunteer, he and the camp ranger planted oak trees to add diversity.
