MORRISVILLE, NY—For the second consecutive year, Morrisville State College has been recognized for its outstanding support to students who have served in the military, being designated as a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media.

MORRISVILLE, NY— A new tradition has begun on the Morrisville State College campus. MSC President David Rogers announced the establishment of Founders’ Day, a day to acknowledge and celebrate community service.  “Each year we will celebrate community service achievements on October 26, Founders’ Day, which coincides with the first day of classes at Morrisville in 1910,” Rogers said.

MORRISVILLE, NY—A new transportation option is bringing relief to Morrisville State College faculty, staff and students—and their wallets.  Morrisville State College launched a new partnership with Zipcar, the world’s leading car sharing network, to offer a Zipcar car sharing program on campus. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Some came with resumes in hand, ready to connect with employers about job opportunities and to discover ways to advance their careers. Others were seeking guidance about earning a college degree and the next steps they should take toward pursuing their career interests. Excitement and enthusiasm filled Follett Hall during the Commerce Chenango College and Career Connection event, hosted recently at the Norwich Campus of Morrisville State College. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Adams Center resident Ray Ortlieb is feeling pretty lucky these days. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputy purchased only one ticket—the one pulled in Morrisville State College’s raffle to win the Automotive Club’s rat rod.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) took home several awards from the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) Northeast Regional Conference held recently in Teaneck, NJ.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College has made the grade again. The college has been ranked among the Best Regional Colleges in the North in the U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges 2016 issue, a publication renowned for its higher education rankings, climbing 10 spots in this year’s round of rankings to No. 33, from No. 43 (in 2015). 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Big things are on the horizon for Morrisville State College.  The college was awarded $12.9 million through the SUNY 2020 initiative to build a new 35,000-square-foot alternative fuels building.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College’s welding lab will get a boost thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Dominion Foundation. Dominion is one of the nation’s largest producers and transporters of energy. The grant money will be used to update equipment, a move that will add spark to welding courses at MSC.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College’s Annual Autumn Review Sale set a record with the highest number of animals in the 33-year history of the event. The dairy cattle sale focused on Holsteins but also sold two Jerseys, two Brown Swiss, and one Milking Shorthorn. The sale grossed a total of $274,650 with 116 live lots sold, nine embryo lots, and five additional animals outside the formal sale. The live lots ranged from two days old to 5-year-old cows. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—The Morrisville State College Theater Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on Oct. 23, 24 at 8 p.m.; Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.; and Oct. 29, 30, 31 at 8 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College held its twenty-sixth annual Standardbred yearling sale, taking in close to $1 million.  The highly anticipated event drew a crowd of potential buyers, sellers, trainers and owners from across the Northeast. MSC’s sale is the only one of its kind in New York State held on a college campus. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College professor and Clinton resident Wyatt Galusky has been selected to the New York Council for the Humanities Public Scholars.  Galusky is associate professor and chair of the Humanities Department and coordinator of the science, technology, & society program at MSC. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Reunions, a 5k run and a carnival are some of the featured events during Mustang Weekend at Morrisville State College Sept. 25-27. Activities begin Friday night, Sept. 25 with a 50-year reunion dinner for the class of 1965 and a men’s alumni lacrosse game at 7:30 p.m.

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State will hold its twenty-sixth annual Fall Yearling Sale Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the college’s Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road.  There are a total of 69 yearlings cataloged for the 2015 sale. Eighteen of them are being sold by the college including two yearlings of Cash Hall; six yearlings of RC Royalty; three yearlings by Conway Hall, three yearlings by Deweycheatumnhowe and one by first crop stallion, Archangel. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will welcome potential students at an open house on Sept. 26.  Students can get answers to questions about admissions, academics, financial aid, athletics, student clubs and organizations and more during the open house which coincides with the college’s annual Mustang Weekend celebration. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— Morrisville State College’s annual Autumn Review Sale will be held on Sept. 19.  The sale, run by the Morrisville State Dairy Club, will start at 11 a.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Building on Eaton Street in Morrisville. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—It wasn’t the usual summer for Margaret Collins. The Morrisville State College student took a break from her part-time job scooping ice cream and bagging sugary confections to learn about chloride mass balance in lakes.  For 10 weeks, Collins, an individual studies student, was immersed in a paid research internship that measured chloride levels in Cazenovia Lake. 

MORRISVILLE, NY — Today, 16 horses and four donkeys began a new journey. It came in an army of faith, hope and love. For a short time, they are “Lainey’s Horses,” named after Lainey’s Army, the animal organization instrumental in finding them their temporary home at Morrisville State College. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— The work of Morrisville State College Professor Timothy Gerken will be on display at the 39th Street Gallery at the Gateway Arts Center in Prince George County, Maryland, Sept. 12- Oct. 22. The photography show, titled “Contradictions and that Line about Self-Destruction,” aims at trying to understand the way people organize or structure their lives. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—They came bearing smiles, toting overstuffed suitcases, refrigerators, and clutching their favorite belongings from home. More evident than anything was the enthusiasm students packed as they moved in to what will be their home for the next few months—Morrisville State College.  Dressed in matching shirts emblazoned with “Team Morrisville,” staff and students greeted new and returning students during Welcome Weekend Aug. 20-23. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State will have a vast presence again this year at the New York State Fair, which runs Aug. 27-Sept. 7. 

MORRISVILLE, NY— The work of freelance photographer Gerard H. Gaskin, of Syracuse, is on display now through Sept. 20 in the Donald Butcher Library Gallery at Morrisville State College.  The photographic exhibit, “Legendary” celebrates the vitality of the New York ballroom scene. The collection draws mostly from Gaskin’s book, Legendary: Inside the House Ballroom Scene, from Duke University, to immerse the viewer in the expressive grandeur of the balls. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Steven Sgarlata didn’t have some of the usual worries college grads face when they complete their degrees.  He didn’t have to spend months poring over online job posts, writing cover letters and cranking out resumes. The Morrisville State College graduate honed his skills through a college internship that landed him a job right out of school.  And he’s not alone. 

MORRISVILLE, NY—Morrisville State College will welcome a new class of freshmen, transfer and returning students during Welcome Weekend Aug. 20-23. Classes begin Aug. 24 at both the Morrisville and Norwich campuses.
