The Morrisville State College football team picked up their first victory of the 2010 season, posting an upset New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win over the visiting SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles 48-41 Saturday night under the lights in Morrisville. This was Morrisville's first ever night football game in the history of the college. The Mustangs improve to 1-3 overall, posting their first NJAC win of the season, while Brockport drops to 1-3 overall, 1-2 in conference action.
Morrisville State College fell to Hamilton College 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20 tonight in Morrisville. The team's record is 3-12 overall. Deanna Zbikowski (North Syracuse, NY) had 17 assists, one dig and one kill to lead the Mustangs as Nicole Wright (Dryden, NY) contributed a team high 12 kills and seven digs. Sarah Keyser (Honeoye, NY) had four kills and two solo blocks. Both Devan Hirst (Cobleskill, NY) and Angelina Ciaschi (Ithaca, NY) had eight digs in the match.
From the moment Caylin Relkoff laced up a pair of hockey skates and raced in wide-eyed amazement around the rink, it was evident the three-year-old was destined for the ice. The same energy beaming in his eyes 20 years later tells the story of a willed boy from Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada, who set out to pursue a dream to play hockey—and never let his goal out of sight.
The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) recently released its pre-season weight class individual rankings, selecting Morrisville State College sophomore wrestler, Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville) fifth in the 184 pound weight class. Brunschmid finished last season with a 12-13 overall record, recording one technical fall, two major decisions and three pins in his freshman campaign.
The Morrisville State College women's soccer team fought to a 0-0 tie against SUNY Cobleskill this evening in conference play. The Mustangs are now to 1-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play, while the Fighting Tigers are now 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the NEAC. Both teams had several opportunities to score, but strong defensive play and goaltending on both ends kept the game scoreless. Jody Pendergast (Phoenix, N.Y.) records the tie for Cobleskill, tallying six saves.
