Visiting Oswego State Lakers needed extra time to get past Morrisville State field hockey, pulling off a 5-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over the Mustangs Wednesday night in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 1-13 overall (0-6 in conference play) while Oswego improves to 7-10 overall, 2-4 in SUNYAC action.

The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, MD) the male athlete of the week and Erin Rundle (Marathon, NY) and Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) the co-female athletes of the week for the week ending October 16. Pierre-Louis led the men's soccer team in the 4-1 win over Gallaudet, recording two goals, including the game winner as the men's team improved to 3-3-2 in conference play on Sunday.

Morrisville State College freshman runner, Amanda Hunt (Laceyville, PA) has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 16. At the CCOC Championships held at William Smith College on Saturday, Hunt finished the race in 14th position out of 126 runners with a time of 22:02.32 to lead the women's team to an eighth overall finish in the 5k race.

Freshman Amanda Hunt (Laceyville, PA) finished 14th out of 126 runners to lead the Morrisville State College women's cross country team to an 8th place overall finish at the CCOC Championships held at Saranac Lake State Park Saturday afternoon in Geneva. William Smith won the invitational, compiling just 45 team points, while Clarkson took second with 54. Morrisville State tallied 240 to secure the eighth place team position.

Morrisville State College football gave away possession five times in the contest, including three in the second half, as visiting Rowan University claimed the 36-17 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 1-5 overall, 1-4 in conference action, while Rowan improves to 4-2 on the season, 4-1 in NJAC play.

Junior Sara Woodward (Ancram/Pine Plains) scored three goals as Cortland shut out visiting Morrisville State, 7-0. The Red Dragons finish the SUNYAC regular season with a 6-0 record and are 10-3 overall after their ninth straight win. Cortland's 14th-year head coach Cynthia Wetmore became the school's victory leader with the win. Her career record is 218-51, surpassing the 217 victories amassed by Pat Rudy from 1981-95.

Junior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, NY) completed the 8K race in 28:12.97 to lead the Morrisville State College men's cross country team to an overall 4th place team finish at the CCOC Championships held at Saranac Lake State Park Saturday afternoon in Geneva. Clarkson won the invitational with 32 team points, followed by Hartwick with 64. SUNY IT edged Morrisville State for third with 110 points, as the Mustangs tallied 115 for fourth place.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) broke free on a fast break and fired the game winner into the back of the cage to lift the Morrisville State College field hockey team to a 5-4 overtime win over visiting Elmira College Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs notch their first victory of the 2011 season, while Elmira falls to 2-9 overall.

The 2011 Morrisville State College Dairy judging team completed another successful year, placing in several competitions. Members of the judging team were: Tyler Clark, of Cambridge; Mike Laspada, of Clymer; Patrick Sweatman, of Sherman, all animal science—dairy associate degree majors; and Courtney Furst, of Moravia, a dairy management, bachelor degree major. All are active participants in the college's Dairy Club.

Morrisville State College's Office of Workforce and Development is offering a free Building Analyst course at the Morrisville campus. The five-day course will be offered Nov. 7-11 and again Jan. 9-13, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Derek Powers ('95), the men's and women's cross country coach at Morrisville State College showed his teams that he still has what it takes, as he competed in the LaFayette Apple 5K Run this past Sunday, October 9 winning the race and setting a new course record.

The Morrisville State men's soccer team came from behind to beat Penn State Abington in conference play on Saturday, but couldn't repeat as they fell to Penn State Berks on Sunday, 2-1. The Mustangs are now 2-6-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.

The Morrisville State College women's soccer team dropped a pair of conference games this weekend against Penn State Abington and Penn State Berks, losing 4-0 and 3-0, respectively. Jennifer Zidzik (Lambertsville, N.J.) recorded both losses for the Mustangs in goal, playing the full game for both contests. Morrisville State is now 2-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference play.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced its football players of the week, naming Morrisville State College freshman linebacker, TJ Barnaba (Marcy, NY) the Defensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 8.

Morrisville State improves to 1-4 overall, 1-3 in NJAC play, while WestConn drops to 0-5, 0-4 in the conference.

Host Oneonta State field hockey used a four goal second half to escape visiting Morrisville State College with a 6-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory Friday afternoon in Oneonta. Oneonta held a two goal lead at the break, before Morrisville State's Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) posted a goal for the Mustangs on a corner pass from Brandi Rafalko (Great Meadows, NJ) minutes into the second half.

The Morrisville State men's soccer team lost to SUNY Canton Thursday night 5-0. The Mustangs fall to 1-5-3 overall and remain at 1-1-2 in conference play.

Morrisville State College and Time Warner Sports of Central New York have reached an agreement to televise the Mustangs New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest game against Western Connecticut State University, on Saturday, October 8th at 12 p.m. at Drake Field on the Morrisville State College campus.
