A great opportunity lies ahead for the 2012 Morrisville State College field hockey team, as they make the final preparations for the season opener scheduled for Saturday. With just eight returning to the roster from last season, second year head coach Becky Osier, believes that the addition of 11 new faces to the squad will guide the program in the direction of success in 2012.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team brings a young, but excited squad into the 2012 season. After losing their top goal scorer and North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) All-Conference team selection, Erin Rundle to graduation, sixth year head coach Chris Perkins is looking to a mixture of returners and newcomers to add their names to the points list this season.

The Morrisville State College Dairy Club will hold its thirtieth annual Autumn Review Sale on Sept. 8, 2012. The sale will begin at 11 a.m. at the Madison County Cooperative Extension Center on Eaton Street in Morrisville.

Morrisville State College head volleyball coach, Fred Wallace, has announced the addition of Juleah Vedder as assistant coach of the women’s program for the 2012-13 season. Vedder comes to Morrisville State from Westmoreland High School, where she served as assistant coach for the varsity program last year.

Morrisville State College head coach, Becky Osier, has named Amy Mitchell assistant coach of the field hockey program for the 2012 season. She will be working with the defensive unit and goalkeepers this season.

Four have been selected to lead the Morrisville State football squad, as seniors Jack Glen (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Tim Hammond (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) along with juniors Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) and Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) have been named captains for the 2012 season.

Final preparations are underway for the football season at Morrisville State, as they are scheduled to open the 2012 campaign at noon on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Wilkes University on the Morrisville State campus.

A team of four-legged favorites moved into Morrisville State College's building for the duration of The Great New York State Fair which runs Aug. 23-Sept. 3. Fair-goers can learn more about the horses; a Belgian gelding, a Percheron mare, a Standardbred brood mare with a filly foal, and a Paint cross, at the college's building located near Gate 4 by the Coca-Cola Coliseum and the Iroquois Indian Village.

Morrisville State College fall student-athletes took a break during preseason workouts Friday to assist with new student move in day on the campus, kicking off the 2012-13 athletic department community service efforts for the upcoming year. Student-athletes from the field hockey, football and men’s soccer programs offered assistance unloading moving trucks and helping new students move items into their dorm rooms, as Morrisville State welcomed the class of 2016.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released its preseason football coaches poll, selecting Morrisville State College to finish eighth overall in league play in 2012. The Mustangs compiled a 1-9 overall record in 2011, 1-8 in the NJAC, posting the league win over Western Connecticut State.

Morrisville State College head women’s basketball coach, Sean Pinkerton, has announced his resignation after three seasons with the program. Pinkerton is leaving Morrisville State for a coaching position at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Morrisville State College head football coach, Terry Dow, recently announced the addition of Travis Greene to the coaching staff for the 2012 season. He will oversee the cornerbacks.

A coach once told Graeme Townshend he would never make it to the National Hockey League (NHL). They were tough words for the aspiring hockey player to hear, but ones that motivated him to prove the coach wrong.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) recently announced its 2011-12 scholar-athlete selections, naming 19 Morrisville State College student-athletes to the academic honor roll. To be named a scholar-athlete, students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters combined while participating in a NEAC sponsored sport. On the year, a total of 430 NEAC student-athletes from 16 member institutions earned the academic honor.

Morrisville State College students Ibrahim Muya and Stephanie Soto were among those who participated in the 2012 New York State Model Senate Project.   

Morrisville State College Athletic Director, Greg Carroll, has announced the hiring of Fred Wallace as the head coach of the Mustangs women’s volleyball and softball programs.

Morrisville State College athletics has announced the addition of Nathan McConnell to the football coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season. McConnell, a wide receiver and return specialist for the Mustangs from 2009-2011, will oversee the tight ends unit this fall.

Do you love country music and have been waiting to see some of the biggest artists live? If so, then now is your chance, at the NY Country Jam 2012. The Country Jam will take place on July 13 from 2 to 11 p.m. and July 14 from noon to 11 p.m. on the home field of the Madison-Bouckville Antique Festival, located on Route 20 in Bouckville. There will be an impressive lineup of today’s top country music artists, followed by firework displays after the last performances.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2012 Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse All-Star Team and individual award winners, naming Morrisville State College freshman attack, Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.), its Rookie of the Year.

Morrisville State College's Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) will be offering a two day hands-on workshop, Renewable Energy Beyond the Classroom, designed for K-12 teachers. The workshop, which will explore renewable energy and assembling real systems, will be held on July 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in Shannon and Galbreath Halls. Sessions include: Solar Overview and Solar Thermal Installation, Biodiesel, Microhydro Installation and Wood Gasification.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its Commissioner's List and All-Academic Team award recipients, with 10 ice hockey student-athletes from Morrisville State earning its academic accolades for the spring 2012 semester.

The School of Science and Technology at Morrisville State College awarded the following scholarships to students, graduates. The School of Science and Technology Award, based on academic excellence and campus involvement, was presented to Amber Jones, of Rome, Joshua Young of Sherburne and Daniel Cleveland, of Sherburne.

Morrisville State College liberal arts students were honored for their achievements during the 12th annual Liberal Arts Tea. The event is part of the college's annual celebration of academic excellence. The Liberal Arts Theater Participant-of-the-Year Award, given to a student who excels in theater productions on campus or assisting with productions, was presented to Billie Gadway, of Tupper Lake, N.Y., a human performance and health promotion student.
