Tell your story. Then post, share and retweet.

In an era of new media, today’s journalist has to apply traditional rules of reporting, writing and editing to the Internet and all other digital sources.

If you love to write and have a natural interest in telling news or feature stories, the SUNY Morrisville Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in journalism & communication for online media will help you explore your passion with a broader audience.

Starting with a strong foundation in writing for journalism, you’ll learn to edit your words, photos and videos for the web. You’ll apply the fundamentals of web design as a staff member of the college’s student-operated online and print newspaper, The Chimes, and also have the opportunity to work in the multimedia WCVM, which features WCVM-AM 1580 "The Vortex," WCVM Cable Channel 4, an internet radio station and a digital video production unit.

Those areas of our Productions Labs allow you to work with the latest digital technology for online, video and audio production, providing you experiences in journalism, computer-assisted reporting, specialized writing, video production for the web, digital still-photography and editing, digital audio editing, and webpage design and production.

You can also hone your writing skills through the SUNY Morrisville Writers Club, which provides a chance for students with a desire to write poetry and prose to experience and critique each other’s work.

When you graduate, you’ll have many opportunities with public communication firms for employment as a journalist, public relations professional, advertising executive, or marketing specialist.
