Morrisville State College is gearing up for another exciting athletics season in 2012-13. Full team schedules have been made available on the athletics web-site at http://athletics.morrisville.edu/. Morrisville State College head women’s basketball coach, Sean Pinkerton, has announced his resignation after three seasons with the program. Pinkerton is leaving Morrisville State for a coaching position at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) recently announced its 2011-12 scholar-athlete selections, naming 19 Morrisville State College student-athletes to the academic honor roll. To be named a scholar-athlete, students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters combined while participating in a NEAC sponsored sport. On the year, a total of 430 NEAC student-athletes from 16 member institutions earned the academic honor.

Morrisville State College Athletic Director, Greg Carroll, has announced the hiring of Fred Wallace as the head coach of the Mustangs women’s volleyball and softball programs.

Morrisville State College athletics has announced the addition of Nathan McConnell to the football coaching staff for the upcoming 2012 season. McConnell, a wide receiver and return specialist for the Mustangs from 2009-2011, will oversee the tight ends unit this fall.

Morrisville State College western rider, Catherine Howland (Rutlandtown, VT) capped off a stellar riding season with a top five finish in three class competitions over the weekend at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Western National Championships held in Raleigh, North Carolina. Howland claimed third place overall in the open individual reining class and followed with a fifth place finish in open individual horsemanship.

Angelica Mazzola (Centerport, N.Y.) scored four goals and handed out a pair of assists to lead eight different Spartan scorers as Castleton State College downed SUNY-Morrisville 18-11 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.

Top seeded Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team had their tournament title chances halted Saturday afternoon as fourth seed Medaille College stunned the Mustangs with the 10-9 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) semifinal victory in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 10-4 overall, while Medaille improves to 8-6 and advances to meet second seed Keuka for the tournament title.

On Wednesday, State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, announced the winners of the 2011-12 Scholar Athlete Award, which recognizes academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, III and NJCAA levels.
