The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team compiled 35 team points at the Hartwick Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitational Saturday, claiming third overall for the show. Skidmore won the invitational with 47 team points, followed by Hartwick for reserve team honors. Michelle Borbee (Bellerose, N.Y.) placed second in the novice equitation over fences to qualify for the regional championships that take place March 30 at Skidmore.
The Morrisville State College western equestrian team collected high point team honors in two shows on Saturday, sweeping all competition as they concluded the regular season schedule at the riding arena in Morrisville. In the first of the day’s double, Morrisville State claimed show top honors with 30 team points, followed by Cobleskill with 22 and Colgate with eight. Five had the top ride of the morning, including Nicole Pulcher-Guzek (Troy, N.Y.) in the novice western horsemanship class.
The Morrisville State College western equestrian team added another honor to the program’s success on Sunday, finishing the season as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2, Region 3 High Point Team for the Region, and advancing six additional riders to the national semi-final competition.
The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team made history Saturday night, stunning Ramapo College with an 86-78 victory in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the first ever post-season win in the NCAA Tournament for the college. Morrisville State (22-5) advances to face Rhode Island College, who topped Hobart in extra time. Ramapo, ranked #15 nationally by D3hoops.com, ends the season with a 23-5 record.
Morrisville State College is making their second straight trip to the 62-team NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament, and will meet Ramapo College in the opening round on Saturday, March 2, at 7 p.m. at Nyack College. The Mustangs (21-5) earned the automatic bid for the national tournament, capturing their second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title on Sunday, following a narrow 74-72 defeat of Wells College in the tournament final.
Morrisville State College will be making their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament, and as announced in the selection show held earlier this afternoon, will face Ramapo College in the first round of the Regional Bracket. Top ranked Morrisville State College built up a 16 point lead in the first half and withstood a ferocious Express comeback in the second, to capture their second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Basketball  Championship Tournament Title by a narrow 74-72 margin over Wells College Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs (21-5, 13-2 NEAC) earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament for a second consecutive year and will await tournament seeding as the NCAA selection show takes place Monday at 12:30 p.m. at www.NCAA.com.
Tournament host, Morrisville State College, handed visiting Penn State Harrisburg a 66-40 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament semi-final loss Saturday afternoon in Morrisville to advance to the title game for the second consecutive year. The defending champions will face Wells College (13-13) who defeated South Division regular season champion, Penn State Berks, in the second semi by an 82-61 final.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2012-13 Ice Hockey All-Conference selections, as voted by the coaches, and has named Morrisville State junior defenseman James Jarvis (Pickering, Ontario) to its second team.  Jarvis completed the season with 15 points in 25 games, having registered five goals and 10 assists, and ranked seventh overall in the conference in defenseman scoring on the year. Two of his tallies were power play scores, as he ranked fourth on the team in points recorded for the Mustangs. 
The Morrisville State College men’s lacrosse team opened the 2013 season campaign Tuesday night, dropping a 16-6 non-conference decision to host Whittier College in Whittier, California. Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) netted two in his collegiate debut to lead the Mustangs, while teammates AJ Donoghue (Rochester, N.Y.), David Middlemore (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Casey Jean (Tully, N.Y.) and Tim Freier (Geneva, N.Y.) each tallied one.
